EuroVelo 8 (EV 8), also known as the “Mediterranean route”, is a European cycle route. The EV8 links Cadiz in Spain to Athens in Greece, via Barcelona, but we recommend the Menton-Cannes section. You will enjoy the gentle pace of life in the area as you discover Menton, Monaco, Eze Bord de Mer, Nice, Antibes and Cannes.
The route is relatively flat for the region, which makes it accessible. The section between Menton and Nice climbs steeply, but offers breathtaking views! We recommend that you do it in mid-season or in the cool of the summer!
The route follows the sea for most of the way, so you can enjoy a refreshing swim after your visits! Although the towns we pass through make a real effort to build cycle paths, there are still none from end to end. However, many stations are on the route and you can really decide to cycle only on certain protected sections, such as between Villeneuve-Loubet and Nice (15.5km).
Finally, if you feel like it, you can go to Italy from Menton or continue the EV8 in the Var from Cannes.
