The Tourist Office of Gourdon invites you to discover its magnificent village, classified among the most beautiful in France. This feudal village is a remarkably harmonious collection of medieval white stone houses, nestled around the castle, all beautifully restored and maintained. There are many craft shops selling local products. Gourdon is built on a peak whose impressive slopes end in the river Loup. There is only one entrance and thick, high ramparts close off the north side, which is the only point from which you can approach the village. Today the castle is privatised, only its magnificent gardens can be visited and were designed by André Le Nôtre. 

Gourdon is the archetypal perched village, sitting like an eagle’s nest at the end of a rocky outcrop, with an exceptional panoramic view over more than 80 kilometres of coastline between La Theoule sur mer and Nice.
